Planning the Perfect Kitchen

The Kitchen is a focal point within any home and often can be the most social area within the house. It is therefore essential that proper planning goes into designing the perfect kitchen for your needs and also choosing the perfect furniture to complement your kitchen.

The first step in choosing the perfect space is to think about where people may sit and a leather sofa beds is a great adition as it creates another bedroom should yoiu have people over to stay. In that sense you must identify the role played by your kitchen. Will you be eating primarily in the kitchen or is there a separate dining room for eating main meals. If so, is it therefore more suitable to choose a smaller set of table and chairs or alternatively a breakfast bar with stools. Furniture should make your house really feel like a home and therefore reflect the way in which you live and how you use the furniture. Identifying what role your kitchen plays in meal times is an important step in choosing the right furniture.

The next important step is deciding how much space is available for dining within your kitchen. Fundamentally, a kitchen should be designed around the work triangle – the preparation area, the sink and the cooker. These three areas should be easily accessible to each other. Furniture should complement the work triangle and make using your kitchen a pleasure.

Perhaps a kitchen island with seating would offer the perfect eating and preparation area. On the other hand perhaps you never enjoy cooking but instead want a larger dining space for socialising and eating take-away food. A kitchen is a multi-dimensional space and choosing your table and chairs must take this into account. Your house is your home and should reflect the way in which you use space.

Before planning your kitchen or buying furniture make sure you fully understand how you use, or intend to use, the space. This forward planning will ensure you choose the right kitchen furniture for your home.
