Make your House a Home

It is often the little touches which make a house into a home and without wanting to sound sexist, it is often a woman's touch which makes a home inviting and welcoming. A few little touches around the home can make such a difference.

Things such as fresh flowers always make a difference and while you can spend a fortune buying the most expensive and trendy flowers, I also find that flowers picked from the garden make great informal displays around the home – as long as you shake out the insects first!

Candles are also a very feminine touch and many homes would not be complete without a smattering of tea lights in glasses and large candles in jars. The scented candles are the best as you can smell them long after they have gone out.

Candles in jars are safer, although you still have to be really careful and make sure that they are safe. It is worth investing in more expensive candles as they are often more strongly scented and have a longer burning time.

Little trinkets around the house, memories of your life which have a special meaning, also look great and can add the finishing touches, but be careful not to overclutter as this is not a good look and makes it very difficult to clean around them.
